The good news is that Apple has toyed with the idea in the past, at least according to a patent that was discovered that showed Apple has some ideas on how to handle nuisance callers. Based on Apple’s patent, it describes a system where it will be able to detect spoofed numbers, meaning that it will be able to detect calls that are trying to use other numbers to avoid commonly used filters.
It will also be able to tell if a call is being passed through a forwarding device, meaning that the caller could be trying to hide where they’re really calling from, which is how a lot of spam and nuisance calls are made these days. That being said, Apple has filed many patents in the past and not all of them have become a reality.
However like we said, with many praising Google’s screen calling feature for the Pixel 3, and with Apple facing heat from governments in China and India over how they handle spam messages and calls, we wouldn’t be surprised if they were to implement such a feature in future iOS updates.
