Given that last we heard, the Nintendo Switch sold nearly 23 million units worldwide to date (which also meant it surpassed the GameCube’s lifetime sales), this roughly translates to about 11.5 million Switch units out there that has the game installed. Of course exactly how many players are actually playing is a different story, but it is still pretty impressive all the same.
IGN points out how this attach rate is impressive for a third-party game, especially since it means that the game can be found on installed on every other Switch unit around the world. There is also a good reason for Nintendo to be sharing such details. This is because Fortnite itself is a free game, but its developers have been making a ton of money due to in-game purchases which we imagine that Nintendo is probably taking a cut of.
We’re not sure how much money the game is making on the Nintendo Switch, but last we heard, it was making roughly $2 million a day on iOS devices.
