Crysis, Crysis 2, Crysis 3 Now Backwards Compatible With Xbox One

Back in the day, Crytek’s Crysis franchise was a popular game amongst PC gamers, namely due to the fact that they generally required pretty high-end gaming hardware, and was frequently used to benchmark computers, although the game eventually made its way onto the last-generation consoles.

However for modern day gamers with current-gen consoles, you’ll be pleased to learn that Crysis, Crysis 2, and Crysis 3 will now be backwards compatible with the Xbox One. This was revealed and confirmed by Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb on Twitter where he shared news of all three games’ backwards compatibility.

Note that this is only for the Xbox One and while the games were launched on the Sony PS3 back in the day, it does not appear that Sony will be making the games backwards compatible with the PS4 or the PS4 Pro (Sony had previously said no to backwards compatibility), so PS4 gamers will not be able to relive their nostalgia on their consoles (it is still available for PC).

So far Microsoft’s Xbox One backwards compatibility list has proven to be pretty popular as they do have some pretty classic titles in their catalogue. To a certain extent Nintendo is also trying something similar, where subscribers to its Switch Online service will get access to classic NES games that can be played on the Switch console.
