In fact Audio Technica seems to be more than happy to oblige as the company has recently taken the wraps off the M50xBT headphones, which in case the name did not already give it away is basically a wireless version of its popular M50 headphones. In terms of design, the M50xBT looks pretty much the same as the M50 and M50x models, except that it will feature wireless Bluetooth connectivity.
It’s not just the design that is similar, but also its specs where it is expected to feature the same wide frequency response, magnets, and voice coils used in the M50x, which means that these are essentially the same pair, just sans cables. Of course there might be some audiophiles who would argue that the audio quality of wireless headphones aren’t as good as wired, but we reckon for the most part many people would be hard pressed to tell, especially since many of us still rely on the MP3 format which has been compressed.
That being said, the M50xBT will offer a very impressive 40 hours of battery life on a single charge and will be priced at $199.
