Apple has confirmed that they will be hosting an event on the 30th of October where it is largely expected that new iPads will be announced. Given that Apple has yet to refresh the iPad Pro lineup, there is a good chance that we might be seeing that happen. In fact not only is the iPad Pro expected to be upgraded internally, but it could be refreshed externally as well.
Thanks to a renders created by designer Viktor Kadar (via 9to5Mac), it shows us what we might be able to expect from the 2018 refresh. Note that these designs aren’t “leaks” and are instead concept renderings based on earlier rumors. However it doesn’t seem to differ too greatly from what we’ve seen before.
This includes flat-sided edges around the tablet (it was curved/rounded previously), along with an edge-to-edge display. The new iPads are also expected to feature the use of Face ID although there will not be a notch, and that Apple could also be ditching Lightning in favor of USB-C, which we reckon is a pretty big deal for a company that loves its proprietary tech.
Take these renderings with a grain of salt for now, but if you’re interested in getting a new iPad, it might not be a bad idea to hold off on buying a new one just yet since it is possible that we might be getting new ones soon.
