This is according to a tweet by user CoinCoin (via MacRumors) who claims that the iPad Pro refresh will see Apple remove the headphone jack from the tablet. This doesn’t really come as a surprise although we’re sure that many iPad owners were probably hoping it wasn’t true. Then again there are plenty of wireless options in the market these days, so there will probably be something for you.
The tweet also seems to hint at the iPad Pro being thinner than its predecessor, where it will feature a thickness of 5.9mm versus the 6.1mm thickness of the current 10.5-inch iPad Pro model. We know that a tweet by some random Twitter user doesn’t really scream “credible”, but MacRumors does point out that it does corroborate some of the earlier leaks, so at the very least the rumors are consistent.
Other alleged features of the iPad Pro refresh include support for Face ID, an edge-to-edge display, a redesigned body, and also some improvements made to the Apple Pencil, and USB-C in place of Lightning. Take it with a grain of salt, but we should have more details later this month when Apple is expected to announce the refresh.
Of course no headphone jack on the upcoming new iPad. 5.9mm thickness is pretty good though.
