For those looking to equip their homes with smart locks, then August is a company that you might have heard of. What the company is known for is an auto-unlock module that can sit on top of existing locks, meaning that you don’t need to know how to replace a lock on a door in order to install it.
Now it looks like August’s tech will be making its way into some of Yale’s products. Yale has recently announced that they will start selling a module that can fit into some of its locks that will integrate August’s tech into them. Given that August was acquired by Assa Abloy last year, the parent company of Yale, it’s not surprising that we’re seeing this integration between brands.
One of the products that will be launched is the Assure Lock SL which will feature an edge-to-edge touchscreen keypad display which will retail for $299, and the other will be the Assure Lock Touchscreen which will feature a touchscreen display and traditional key access for $279. These will be bundled together with a Yale lock, but if you already own a compatible Yale lock, then you have the option of buying the Connected by August kit for $129.
For those who might be interested by this, then you might want to head on over to Yale’s website to check out the options that will be available to you.
