Microsoft announced the Xbox Adaptive Controller for differently abled players a couple of months ago. The controller helps people with disabilities to play games on Xbox. The company billed it as the most flexible adaptive controller made by a major gaming company. It started taking pre-orders for it back in June and has now announced that the Xbox Adaptive Controller is readily available for purchase.
The Xbox Adaptive Controller features two large programmable buttons in addition to 19 jacks through which many buttons, joysticks, and switches can be connected to allow differently abled players to play games on the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
It’s not a one-stop solution for all games but the high level of flexibility through which many peripherals can be used in concert with system-level button remapping will go a long way in enabling people with disabilities to enjoy playing games.
Many peripherals from Microsoft’s hardware partners such as Logitech, RAM, and PDP can be used to customize the controller. More information about these peripherals in addition to tips on how to get the controller setup are available on the company’s website.
