This led to lawsuits and a judge ruling in 2017 that saw the company pay $2.2 million in fines to settle with the US government. For those who are learning about this for the first time and who might own a Vizio smart TV, you will soon be able to find out if you are one of those who might have been spied on as Vizio plans to notify users who were affected, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.

The additional time requested will allow the parties to confirm that the notice program proposed in the motion for preliminary approval is workable and satisfies applicable legal standards.”
