Now for those looking for a kid-friendly smartwatch, Verizon is more than happy to oblige with the launch of the GizmoWach. This is a smartwatch that is aimed at kids and according to Verizon, is the first 4G LTE kid’s watch in the US powered by Qualcomm. It’s a rather specific achievement, although the point is that with 4G LTE support, it means that the watch can make and receive phone calls without the need for a smartphone.
According to Brian Higgins, vice president of device and consumer product marketing for Verizon, “The new GizmoWatch has all of the benefits that parents and kids are looking for in a smart watch in a stylish and cool new look kids will love. It has the connectivity of Verizon’s 4G LTE network and offers a ton of tools to keep kids safe and entertained.”
The device will feature a more durable band and will also come with safety features. For example parents can setup geofencing that lets them know when their kid ventures out of it. They can also set designated numbers as safe contacts, meaning that only numbers that have been pre-approved will be able to call the GizmoWatch. In terms of pricing, the Verizon GizmoWatch will be priced at $180.
