It hasn’t been easy to get your hands on a Tesla Model 3 ever since the mass market electric car was announced a few years back. Tesla had been struggling to keep up with demand and that pushed back deliveries for customers who had even put down a deposit for the car. In a bid to improve sales numbers for the Model 3, Tesla is now reportedly offering immediate delivery.
According to a report, Tesla has started emailing people who have reserved a Model 3 who a promise of “immediate delivery” of select rear wheel drive Model 3s on a “first-come, first served basis.”
The emails are initially being sent out to customers who made a reservation for the car on the very first day but will be expanded to those who have merely signed up and not put down a deposit this week.
It’s unclear how many units Tesla is going to move this way but it has been producing batches of Model 3 cars with rear wheel drive that weren’t customized for any customer. This is going to enable customers who have been waiting for the base $35,000 model due to arrive at some point in 2019 to get immediate delivery of a Model 3 if they’re willing to pay a bit more to pick up the RWD model.
