Sony stated that they are “confident” in finding a solution, but the company’s latest statements doesn’t sound particularly reassuring. If anything it sounds like Sony is pretty much set in their decision. Speaking with the Press Association (via The Independent; via The Verge) at IFA, Sony’s CEO Kenichiro Yoshida spoke about the cross-play controversy again.
According to Yoshida, “On cross-platform, our way of thinking is always that PlayStation is the best place to play. Fortnite, I believe, partnered with PlayStation 4 is the best experience for users, that’s our belief. But actually, we already opened some games as cross-platform with PC and some others, so we decide based on what is the best user experience. That is our way of thinking for cross-platform.”
Like we said, this statement doesn’t sound like Sony wants to support cross-platform play between the other consoles. Will the company change their minds anytime soon? That remains to be seen, but maybe until then don’t get your hopes up just yet.
