It might be too early to tell, but it appears that benchmarks have been spotted online that allegedly show off the upcoming chipset’s performance. The Snapdragon 855 name was not explicitly mentioned, but it was referred to be its codename “msmnile”. According to the benchmarks, it shows a single-core performance score of 3,697, and a multi-core score of 10,469.
Based on these scores, it shows that the Snapdragon 855 has rightfully and expectedly outperformed its predecessor. However for a bit of context, since comparisons against Apple’s iPhones are always made, as GSMArena notes, the Snapdragon 855’s single-core isn’t up to par with the A11 Bionic which scored 4,300.
However in terms of multi-core, it matches what the A11 Bionic scored as well. However it should be noted that the A11 is used for last year’s iPhones, meaning that the A12 chipset used for this year’s iPhones should perform much better. In any case benchmarks only tell one side of the story and does not necessarily guarantee that a phone will be good or bad, so try not to read too much into it for now.
