We’ve seen how many household objects have been made smarter over the years. The humble mirror is one of them where we have seen how some companies such as Lenovo and HiSense create mirrors that have the ability to be more than just a mirror, and can display additional information like the weather, news, and more.
However a device by the name of MIRROR hopes to take things further by putting a personal trainer in your home. On the surface, the MIRROR is well, a mirror. It measures 22-inches wide, 52-inches tall, and about an inch deep. This makes it an ideal size to put in your bedroom or your living room where when it is not in used, you could use it to check your outfit before leaving the house.
However that’s probably not the main selling point of the device. The MIRROR acts as a display as well, where users will be able to connect remotely to fitness trainers who will be able to give users a personal training session in real time from the comfort of their own home. Because the training is live streamed, it can be viewed by multiple parties at once, which in a way creates a virtual group fitness class.
Users will also have the option to pair a fitness tracker or smartwatch like the Apple Watch to the device, so that they can see their heart rate as they work out, along with other details. There will also be the option to customize your workout, where users can specify if they have an injury and be recommended a different exercise to do.
Unfortunately technology does not come cheap as the MIRROR will cost $1,500 and users will need to pay a subscription of $39 a month to access the classes. If this sounds like something you wouldn’t mind investing it, head on over to its website for the details.
