A new mid-range smartphone has been announced today and it’s more than just a conventional affordably priced handset. It’s actually the company’s first smartphone with a triple camera. Samsung has never made a smartphone before with three cameras at the back. They’re not really unique anymore as Huawei has made a device with triple camera already. Nevertheless, this is Samsung’s first offering called the Galaxy A7.
The Galaxy A7 has a metal body which houses its 6 inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display. There’s a 2.2GHz octacore processor with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A 3,300mAh battery keeps the lights on. That’s obviously not what this smartphone will sell for. The triple camera is what will attract buyers.
There is a 24 megapixel main sensor with autofocus, an 8 megapixel sensor with a 120 degree wide angle lens, and a 5 megapixel depth sensor. The handset also has a 24 megapixel selfie camera with a flash. It remains to be seen how this triple camera system performs. It would be wrong to assume that just because it has three sensors it would be an imaging powerhouse.
We will have to reach that conclusion for ourselves once the device is actually released. Samsung hasn’t said precisely when that will happen but it does say that the device will be available across Europe and Asia soon. It hasn’t confirmed the price for customers in this part of the world as yet.
