For those who have subscribed to the recently launched Switch’s Online service and would like to chat with their friends while they game, you might be interested to learn that the Nintendo Switch app for mobile devices has recently been updated where it will now support voice chat for more kinds of games.
Initially the app was launched with voice chat support for Splatoon 2, but like we said, there is now support for more games. This includes the likes of Mario Tennis Aces, ARMS, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. We expect that more games will be added to the list later on, although if anything it seems like this process highlights how unnecessarily complicated this setup is.
Nintendo’s justification for the feature was that because we carry our phones with us all the time, it made sense to use our phones as the platform for voice chat. While we can’t disagree with that logic, we’re sure that many gamers would appreciate it if there were less complicated methods of chatting with friends.
