The much-awaited sixth and final season of House of Cards is going to be released in November. Netflix today released a new teaser and also confirmed the release date of the season. The final season is going to have eight episodes. The teaser suggests that a major development has taken place in the hiatus which was to be expected following the departure of lead actor Kevin Spacey from the show.
The story firmly revolved around Spacey’s Frank Underwood in the first five seasons of House of Cards. It’s only in the final season that the spotlight began shifting gradually to his wife Claire Underwood.
The production of the sixth season was temporarily halted after sexual harassment allegations against Spacey came to light. He was ultimately fired from the show. The producers took some time to figure out the way forward and it was confirmed that the sixth season would be the last.
The new teaser released by Netflix confirms that Frank Underwood has been killed offscreen. This would leave the story to focus completely on Claire and would obviously not require an appearance from the disgraced actor.
All eight episodes of House of Cards season 6 will be released on Netflix come November 2nd.
