Now perhaps adding a bit more confusion is an investor’s note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that was obtained by MacRumors, in which the notable analyst suggests that Apple could have a new MacBook in the works that could replace the 12-inch MacBook lineup. “The new low-price MacBook may replace the position of the current 12″ MacBook. We expect this new model to support the Touch ID but it will not have the Touch Bar.”
It is unclear if by replacing the position he means that Apple will have to find a new position for the 12-inch MacBook, or if this rumored new laptop will replace the lineup completely. We have heard rumors that Apple could be working on a new cheaper MacBook that could sport a Retina display and presumably this is the model that Kuo is referencing.
Assuming that is the case, for those who aren’t looking to buy the MacBook Pro, perhap holding off on your purchase for now until the new laptops have been announced might be a good idea.
