It was an intriguing idea and it seems that Lenovo’s partnership with Amazon isn’t quite over yet as the company has announced plans to bring more Alexa-enabled tablets to the market. According to Lenovo, “Lenovo and Amazon are coming together to challenge the status quo in the tablet category with Lenovo Smart Tab, a brand new line of voice-activated tablet solutions for the home.”
They add, “In addition to browsing the web, binging videos or connecting on social media, Lenovo Smart Tab will expand families’ capabilities by drastically extending the tablet functionality to double as voice-enabled speakers with crystal-clear, high-definition screens.” This seems to be Amazon’s way of competing with Google and their Smart Displays, in which we’ve also seen Lenovo take part in that, along with JBL.
There is an advantage to such setups in which the tablet is removable which makes it more functional. Details about Lenovo’s upcoming Alexa tablets are still scarce at the moment, but we expect that more details will be shared at a later date.
