When Apple announced their new iPhones, it actually came as a bit of a surprise to learn that the OLED models would be shipping earlier than the LCD model, the iPhone XR. It is unclear as to what could be the reason behind the “delay”, but some have speculated that it could because Apple wanted to see how well the iPhone Xs and Xs Max did before committing to production of the iPhone XR.

However according to a report from DigiTimes, it seems that production problems could be a reason for the later launch. The report claims that due to capacity constraints and delayed shipments, it has caused some production issues over at Pegatron who was tapped to be one of the iPhone XR’s manufacturer.

The report cites other issues such as shortage of workers and low-than-expected yield rates as other problems plaguing the production. As a result, Apple is said to have shifted over more of the production from Pegatron over to Foxconn. Previously the workload was said to have been split between Foxconn and Pegatron almost equally, but now Pegatron’s orders have been cut down to about 30%.

We’re not sure if this will ultimately impact the release date of the iPhone XR, which last we heard was set for a release on the 26th of October. This means that Foxconn and Pegatron and the rest of Apple’s suppliers will have about a month to get up to speed.
