Instagram Denies They Are Developing A Regramming Feature

Regramming is something that Instagrammers have been doing for a while now. For those unfamiliar, it basically involves users reuploading a photo posted by something else on their Instagram account. However despite the popularity of this practice, Instagram has yet to officially make it a native feature.

Now last year there were signs suggesting that this could finally be happening, but now it turns out that will not be the case. According to a report from TechCrunch, Instagram has confirmed that they are not developing the feature, nor is it in testing. This comes on the heels of a report from The Verge in which screenshots showing a native regramming feature was shared.

That being said, Instagram is aware of this feature and in an interview with WIRED last year, Instagram’s co-founder Kevin Systrom said, “We debate the re-share thing a lot . . . But really that decision is about keeping your feed focused on the people you know rather than the people you know finding other stuff for you to see. And I think that is more of a testament of our focus on authenticity.”

So far the only way for users to reshare content posted onto Instagram is via Stories, which is only a temporary solution as Stories usually end after 24 hours.
