Huawei is set to unveil its next flagship smartphone in the coming month. The Huawei Mate 20 is going to be a high-end device with the specs to match. A recent teardown of the Android Pie-based EMUI 9 software that will be released soon revealed that the Mate 20 Pro could come with an underwater photo mode. A new teaser that Huawei has released for the device has suggested the same.

Most high-end and many mid-range devices are now protected against water submersion for up to 30 minutes. It goes without saying that the Huawei Mate 20 will have an IP rating as well. Since the phones can now be submerged, it’s possible to take photos underwater.

Huawei has been relying on software to further improve the camera performance on its devices and that’s what it appears to be doing with this feature as well. The teaser that the company has posted on Weibo suggests that an underwater photo mode might be onboard to improve shots taken with the phone submerged in water.

However, it’s quite possible that the teaser might just be highlighting the water resistance of the Mate 20 Pro which the handset is most likely going to have given that its predecessor, the Mate 10 pro, had it as well.
