Last year there was a bit of a fuss kicked up over World of Warcraft, where a group of players had decided that they had enough of modern World of Warcraft and wanted to go back to the classics, and thus created their own World of Warcraft server. This project got shut down, understandably, although Blizzard did make up for it by announcing that they will be working on a World of Warcraft Classic server.
Basically this will give players the classic “vanilla” experience from when the game first launched more than a decade ago. Blizzard did state that it could be a while before the classic servers are up and running, but the good news is that it looks like a playable demo will be available soon. In fact if you were to purchase a virtual ticket to BlizzCon 2018, you will be able to download the classic demo after BlizzCon 2018 kicks off.
According to Blizzard, “Every BlizzCon, we look for opportunities to bring new aspects of the experience to our community around the world. This year, we’re excited to announce that for the first time ever, BlizzCon Virtual Ticket holders will join BlizzCon attendees as the first people to play the World of Warcraft Classic demo we’re creating for BlizzCon at home.”
To top it off, the virtual ticket will also come with two faction-themed cloaks and war banners (this is just for World of Warcraft in-game items), amongst other goodies. The virtual tickets are available for purchase at $50 so head on over to Blizzard’s website to get your (virtual) hands on them.
