Apple Watch Series 4 Pre-Orders Reportedly Above Expectations

Apple has been absolutely killing it in the smartwatch game with their Apple Watch, or at least that’s what the numbers seem to tell us. It looks like Apple does not need to worry about getting knocked off their throne anytime soon because according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Apple Watch Series 4 is reportedly off to a good start.

This is according to a research note issued by the analyst and obtained by MacRumors in which it seems that weekend pre-orders for the Series 4 was above expectations. We’re not sure what the initial expectations were, but apparently Kuo believes that this could result in Apple shipping as many as 18 million units of the Apple Watch in 2018, with the Series 4 possible accounting for more than half of them.

According to Kuo, he claims that the higher pre-orders were spurred by innovative functions, such as the ECG built into the device. However it should be noted that the feature will not be available at launch, and that for now it seems that the ECG feature will only be for the US market.

We can only assume that this is because Apple probably needs clearance by the regulatory bodies in other countries before launching this medical feature, so that’s something you’ll want to consider if you plan on getting your hands on it outside of the US.
