A report from the other day suggested that Amazon has a bunch of new Echo/Alexa-enabled devices in the works. Now thanks to a couple of posts from Pocket-lint, at least two of the devices have been leaked in the form of the Amazon Echo Sub and also the Amazon Smart Plug.
Starting with the Echo Sub, this is as the name implies a subwoofer. According to the report, the Echo Sub will feature a 6-inch down-firing woofer that is capable of putting out 100W of bass. If you’ve always felt that the Echo speakers lacked bass, then connecting it to the Echo Sub should get the job done.
Next up is the Smart Plug, which we’re sure that many can probably guess what it does just by looking at it. Basically it will allow devices that are connected to it to be turned off and on remotely via an accompanying smartphone app. It will also support Amazon’s Alexa which means support for voice commands.
It should be noted that neither device has yet to be announced, but given how clean and official these images look, we imagine that an official launch shouldn’t be too far behind, so until then do take it with a grain of salt.
