Ahead of the release of the Battle for Azeroth expansion, Blizzard put out a couple of “Warbringers” animated shorts that told additional stories about some of the characters from World of Warcraft, namely Jaina Proudmoore and Sylvanas Windrunner, both of whom play key roles in the current expansion and storyline.
Now the third and final Warbringers animated short has been released featuring none other than Queen Azshara herself. For those unfamiliar with World of Warcraft lore, Azshara was once the ruler of the Kaldorei Empire, home to both the Highborne Elves and Night Elves. However in her bid for power, Azshara struck up a deal with Sargeras and the Burning Legion, leading to disastrous consequences, in which she then forged another pact with the Old Gods that transformed her and her followers into the Naga.
This is pretty the story that is being told in this animated short that you can check out above if you have about 7 minutes or so to spare. It is done very well, as expected of Blizzard. It should also be noted that one of the reasons why Azshara is part of the Warbringers short is because Blizzard did previously confirm that Azshara will be one of the game’s raid bosses, potentially the last raid boss for the current expansion, so that could be worth looking forward to in the future.
