#IFA18 – Thanks to various leaked photos and rumors, we have known for a while that Sony might be planning on launching a new handset at IFA 2018. Sure enough the company has as they have taken the wraps off their latest smartphone in the form of the Sony Xperia XZ3 which will be the company’s flagship phone for 2018.

As you can see from the renders, it seems that Sony has deviated from its designs that they have used in the past where it now features considerably rounded edges. The Xperia XZ3 will also feature an edge-to-edge 6-inch QHD+ HDR OLED display powered by Sony’s Bravia TV technology.

Under the hood, the Xperia XZ3 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset, but what’s interesting about this phone are its cameras. Unfortunately the rumors did not pan out, in which it was suggested that the phone could be packing four cameras. However it seems that Sony will be using AI to power its 19MP rear-facing camera camera, where it can detect when you’re about to take a photo when you hold your phone out in landscape mode.

There will also be Superior Auto, Predictive Capture, Predictive Autofocus and Smile shutter features, and also Sony’s Motion Eye camera that will allow for 4K HDR videos. The front-facing camera is also no slouch with a 13MP sensor, along with a bunch of effects to help users take amazing selfies. In terms of availability, the Sony Xperia XZ3 will launch towards the end of September and is expected to be amongst the first devices to ship with Android 9.0 Pie preinstalled.
