According to Snap’s latest earnings, it seems that Snapchat has seen a decline in its daily active users. The company’s CEO Evan Spiegel seems to blame the new design, where he attributed “a slightly lower frequency of use among our user base due to the disruption caused by our redesign.” However he also thinks that this should not be an issue moving forwards as “we have now addressed the biggest frustrations we’ve heard.”
Following the controversial redesign, many had petitioned Snapchat to revert back to the old design. There were reports claiming that Snap’s own designers had actually warned the company against moving forwards with the new design, at least based on its current iteration which was not well-received during pre-testing.
Snapchat has since rolled out more changes which brought some of the older design elements back. Whether or not this will change the minds of users remains to be seen, presumably in Snap’s next financial earnings.
