Samsung Internet Go Developed For Its First Android Go Smartphone

If you use a Samsung smartphone then you’ll be aware that in addition to Google’s Chrome browser, the company’s smartphones come with its own Samsung Internet browser as well. Samsung is due to release its first Android Go smartphone in the near future. It has developed a lightweight version of the Samsung Internet browser for the upcoming device.

An APK of the Samsung Internet Go app has surfaced online. It’s a lightweight app so it lacks some of the features that are present in the full version. That’s to be expected from these lightweight apps, though.

Android Go is an initiative from Google to provide an improved user experience on affordable Android devices with 1GB of RAM or less. Manufacturers like ASUS and ZTE have launched their Android Go smartphones already and Samsung is expected to follow suit soon.

According to a report, the Samsung Internet Go app uses Android WebView to display the web pages. That may leave a lot to be desired on the performance front. The interface itself is similar to Samsung Internet proper but features such as Samsung Cloud Sync, night mode, extensions, and more are missing. This is what has enabled the company to bring the size of its web browser down from 80MB to around 17MB.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed as yet when it’s planning to launch its first Android Go smartphone.
