To be fair Samsung has never really participated in Google’s Android One program in the past, so it’s nice to see them hop on board the Android Go platform. For those unfamiliar Android Go and Android One are similar in which they are targeting lower-end phones, with the main difference being that Android Go does away with the restrictions that Google had in place with Android One.
In terms of specs, the Galaxy J2 Core will feature a 5-inch 540×960 display, and under the hood a Samsung Exynos 7570 chipset can be found along with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a 2,600mAh battery, an 8MP rear-facing camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera. It’s not the most impressive of phones, but judging by its specs it will most likely be priced very affordably.
In terms of launch, Samsung is targeting both Malaysia and India where it will be available on the 24th of August, before it is expected to expand to more markets in the future.
