New Report ‘Confirms’ Samsung’s Foldable Phone Will Be Expensive

If you’re hoping to pick up Samsung’s foldable smartphone when it launches (if at all), prepare to have a lot of money lying around because according to a report from ET News, Samsung’s foldable phone won’t come cheap. The report claims that the phone could be priced at 2 million won when launched, which is roughly $1,800 after conversion.

Interestingly enough this is actually not the first time we’re hearing this. A report from June also suggested that the device could be priced as much as $2,000, which means that these reports at least corroborate with each other. There could be a reason behind this exorbitant pricing and that is due to the technology used, where Samsung might be trying to recoup some of their losses.

It could also be due to another report which suggests that the phone could be a limited run handset, meaning that Samsung won’t be able to bring the pricing down as they won’t be producing it on a larger scale. This does pose a problem to Samsung in which how can they convince the public to buy their phones?

We have heard reports that Huawei, Xiaomi, and Oppo have plans to launch their own foldable smartphones and that they could be half the price of Samsung’s. Plus there is also no telling that foldable phones will be the next big thing in smartphones, but either way this is something we’ll need to wait and see.
