When it comes to modern day monitors, the majority of them still seem to be relying on HDMI for connectivity to computers. We have seen some efforts at introducing Thunderbolt 3 monitors, such as LG’s Ultrafine displays, but honestly speaking there aren’t that many around at the moment, let alone curved ones.
For those who are looking for a curved Thunderbolt 3 monitor, you’ll be pleased to learn that Samsung’s CJ79 and CJ89 curved Thunderbolt 3 QLED monitors are now available. Originally announced at CES 2018 earlier, Samsung’s press release has revealed that the new monitors are now available in Europe and will be available worldwide soon, but the company has not mentioned anything about pricing yet.
In terms of specs, the differences between the CJ79 and the CJ89 is its size, where the former will feature a 34-inch display, while the latter will be available in a 43-inch or 49-inch configuration, with 21:9 and 32:10/32:9 aspect ratios respectively. The CJ89 will also offer faster refresh rates at 120Hz and 144Hz, while the CJ79 will have a refresh rate of 100Hz, but will sport faster response times at 4ms vs 5ms.
However both monitors will come with built-in speakers, and will also feature 2x Thunderbolt 3 ports, along with your standard ports such as HDMI, DP, and some extra USB ports. Like we said pricing has yet to be determined, but Samsung is expected to show them off at IFA 2018 which takes place later this week.
