The good news is that if you don’t own a Roku set-top box or a smart TV with Roku installed, you might be interested to learn that Roku has since launched The Roku Channel on the web. This is essentially Roku’s streaming service, except that now it can be accessed via your computer’s web browser, along with select Samsung smart TVs. This makes it the first time that Roku’s streaming services are available to non-Roku devices.
In addition to being streamable on your computer, The Roku Channel will also be free. Of course since there’s no such thing as a free lunch, much like Spotify’s free tier, The Roku Channel will be supported by ads, so we guess in a way you could think of this as being the same as watching regular TV, except on your computer. If this sounds like something you might be interested in, head on over to The Roku Channel’s website and sign up (it will require a Roku account).
