Quake Champions Will Forever Be Free-To-Play

Quake Champions made its exit from the beta stage and landed on Steam Early Access last year. The closed beta went on for quite some time before developer Id Software decided to do this. The game was free-to-play even then but those who wanted to play it through Early Access with all of the champions had to purchase the Champions Pack. The studio later said that the game would be fully free-to-play once it was properly launched but it has decided to do that starting right now.

Id Software confirmed during QuakeCon that Quake Champions is now free-to-play and will remain this way forever. Even though it’s possible to play the game for free now, the paid Champions Pack will continue to be offered to gamers who want all of the champions.

A new trailer has been released for the game as well at QuakeCon which highlights the latest character to grace the roster, Quake’s Death Knight. It arrived in the update last week which also improved bot AI and other elements of the game.

The Champions Pack normally costs $40 but it’s on sale during QuakeCon for 50 percent off. After the convention is over, the Champions Pack will continue to be sold at a discounted rate of $30 until September 4th.
