#IFA18 – Let’s face it, when it comes to choosing a TV, features like size and display quality are some of the more important factors. This is because this is pretty much what defines the TV in the first place. But what about audio quality? For those who care about audio as well, Philips might have a new TV that could be of interest to you.
Dubbed the OLED 903, in case the somewhat confusing and hard-to-remember model number wasn’t already obvious, this is an OLED TV from Philips that the company recently announced at IFA 2018 which will be launched with a 65-inch display. This will be the company’s flagship TV so as you might expect, it does come packed with all the bells and whistles.
This includes a sound bar attached to the bottom that was developed with the company’s partnership with Bowers & Wilkins. The sound bar won’t be a regular sound bar as it comes with certain features to help deliver good quality audio. This includes how each driver units comes with its own baffle that has been placed inside of a pressed seal chassis. This has been designed to help prevent distortions and rattles. There is also a new driver motor that will help enhance dynamic range, and the low-frequency unit has also been given a more linear design.
As for the actual display itself, this will use an OLED panel that will be powered by Philips’ P5 processor, which is meant to indicate the company’s five pillars of picture quality. The TV will also run on Android TV which means it is a smart TV, and will also support a range of HDR formats such as HDR10, HLG, and HDR10+.
Also considering that this is a Philips TV, the company has included Ambilight functionality. Given all these specs and features and its size, the Philips OLED 903 will not come cheap as it is said to be priced at £3,499 for the 65-inch model.
