There have been reports recently that HMD Global has been working on a new flagship smartphone which would compete with the likes of the Galaxy S9. The company hasn’t said which device it’s going to launch next week but its official Twitter account has confirmed that “the most awaited phone” is going to be announced on August 21st.
There’s reason to believe that the company might be hinting that the Nokia 9 launch is scheduled for the coming week. The teaser image itself doesn’t drop any hints about the next flagship device but it lines up with earlier reports about a new flagship smartphone being in the pipeline over at HMD Global.
HMD Global is the Finnish company that makes Nokia-branded smartphones now. Recent reports have suggested that it has been working on the Nokia 9 flagship with specs comparable to those of other Android flagships released so far this year.
If the reports are accurate then the device will most certainly be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip and may also feature components such as a dual rear camera and an in-display fingerprint sensor. No word as yet on the detail specifications of this handset.
HMD Global will formally unveil this new Nokia smartphone on Tuesday, August 21st.
