Analyst: No Apple Pencil Support For 2018’s iPhones

With the Apple Pencil essentially being a souped up stylus, many have rightfully wondered if it would ever be supported on the iPhone. There were reports suggesting that it could, and more recently Apple has been reported to have signed on with a new stylus supplier which only served to fuel the rumors.

However according to notable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, we probably shouldn’t get our hopes up for Apple Pencil support for this year’s iPhones. According to Kuo, his reasoning is that it is because it would not offer a good user experience due to the small-ish nature of the iPhone displays, at least compared to the larger displays of Apple’s iPads.

To that end it makes sense and we have wondered about that ourselves in the past. Not to mention Apple’s late co-founder Steve Jobs had rejected the idea of a stylus on the iPhone in the past where he was famously quoted saying, “Who wants a stylus? You have to get ’em, put ’em away, you lose ’em. Yuck! Nobody wants a stylus. So let’s not use a stylus.”

Many have criticized the Apple Pencil for its inability to be stowed away neatly, and given how pricey it is, losing it is simply not an option, so we imagine that this situation would be compounded even more when using an iPhone. Either way it remains to be seen if Kuo’s predictions come true, which we should find out soon enough as the new iPhones could be announced in the next couple of weeks.
