Microsoft launched the Minecraft: Education Edition back in late 2016. The title was provided to schools on Windows 10 and macOS machines initially and is now being expanded to the tablet. The iPad is a device that’s widely used in the education sector so it’s not surprising to see that Microsoft has announced that it’s bringing Minecraft: Education Edition to the iPad.
Microsoft has confirmed today that Minecraft: Education Edition will be released to schools on the iPad starting next month.
Schools that are licensed through Microsoft 365 for Education (A3 or A5) will already have access to the title and will be able to download it on the iPad when it arrives. The school administrator will have to assign the available licenses to teachers who want to use the title, though.
Volume licensing agreements will be available through the Microsoft Store for Education and other resellers for schools without a license. They will pay for it on an annual basis but they will be allowed to try it out for free for up to 25 teacher and 10 student logins.
The Update Aquatic experience will be part of the iPad port of Minecraft: Education. It will enable children to experiment with chemistry, create stories, and document lessons with camera and portfolio features.
