Despite having been announced and unveiled back in 2017, it’s safe to say that Apple’s AirPower wireless charging mat will only be launched in 2018 at the earliest. It is unfortunate but for those who want an official Apple solution, the only thing to do is to wait. However perhaps Logitech might have something that could be an alternative.
The company has recently unveiled the Logitech POWERED Wireless Charging Stand. While wireless chargers and docks for the iPhone aren’t new, what makes this particular charger different is that Logitech is saying that they actually designed this new gadget in collaboration with Apple. This means that while it’s not an official Apple product, it has Apple’s nod of approval as far as the design and features are concerned.
As you can see this is obviously not the AirPower charging mat and will only charge your iPhone. However it will support iPhones that are inside of cases up to 3mm thick, and will be capable of delivering up to 7.5W of power to the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X. It will work with non-iPhones as long as they use the Qi wireless standard, but it will only go up to 5W for those devices.
The Logitech POWERED Wireless Charging Stand is priced at $70 and will be available via Logitech’s website or Apple stores.
