A new report claims that the much-awaited 9th Gen processors from Intel will be launched on October 1st. They won’t be the company’s Cannon Lake chips based on the 10nm process as they have been delayed until next year. The upcoming generation has been developed based on the improvements made to the 14nm process.
Wccftech reports that Intel’s new Core i9, Core i7, and Core i5 processors will be launched on October 1st and branded as the company’s 9th generation chips.
The flagship processor – Intel Core i9-9900K – is reportedly going to out 8 cores and 16 threads with a 3.6GHz base clock. It’s said to be the first mainstream desktop Core i9 processor in addition to being the first Intel chip with 8 cores and 16 threads. It may also feature 16 MB of L3 cache and Intel UHD 620 graphics.
The 9th Generation Core i7-9700K processor will reportedly feature 8 cores and a similar number of threads. With 12MB of L3 cache, it will have lower threads than the Core i7-8700K but a higher core count. It’s said to have a base clock of 3.6 GHz. Last but not the least, the 6 core and 6 thread Core i5-9600K may have 9MB of L3 cache with a base clock of 3.7GHz.
Intel hasn’t confirmed or denied this report as yet. It also hasn’t said anything before about launching its next generation of desktop processors in October so it remains to be seen if this report actually turns out to be accurate.
