#IFA18 – We’ve all been guilty of misplacing our bags, wallets, keys, and more. However thanks to technology these days, we are able to better keep track of them. Huawei has also announced the launch of the Huawei Locator, which is a device that can help with that. It is a location beacon device that will support a bunch of global navigation system standards, such as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and Beidou.
It will work with nano SIM or eSIMs with support for global roaming. There are also features such as near-real-time location reporting, geofencing, and BLE Found that can help trigger an alarm on the device when it is paired with a smartphone. In concept it works similar to tracking devices like Tile, except with much more advanced features like GPS, although it is bulkier so it won’t exactly slip into your wallet.
However if you’re looking to keep track of things like your kids or a luggage, then slipping in the Huawei Locator should be able to get the job done. It also has an IP68 rating which means that using it for outdoor activities where it might get wet should not impede its functionality, but you probably won’t want to go deep sea diving with it. Unfortunately there is no word on pricing or availability yet.
