Huawei Android 9.0 Pie Beta Now Supported By 5 Additional Devices

Huawei hasn’t said as yet when it’s going to release the Android 9 Pie update for all of its supported handsets. What it did do earlier this month was announce the names of some Huawei/Honor devices that will be supported during the internal beta of this update. The company has now updated this list with five additional handsets that will support the Android 9.0 Pie beta.

As expected, the latest additions to this list are all flagship smartphones. They include the Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Porsche Design, Mate RS Porsche Design, P20 Pro, and Honor Play. There are now nine devices in total that are supported by the internal testing program.

Huawei is looking for a total of 2,000 beta users in China to test out the upcoming major firmware update. The handsets that do get into the beta program will be required to have 6GB of free storage. Huawei will release the beta firmware to 200 of its beta testers starting late September.

It’s also expected to start rolling out the stable version of the Android 9.0 Pie update to some of its handsets in the coming months. Google released the Android 9 Pie update not too long ago but it’s going to be a while before most of its OEM partners start rolling out the firmware to compatible devices.
