This is according to a tweet by developer @LlabTooFeR who not only suggested that the phone would be launched with last year’s update, but apparently this phone will not be made by HTC themselves. Instead it seems that it will be outsourced to an ODM. Given that last month HTC announced plans to lay off 1,500 employees from its manufacturing division, we suppose this piece of news doesn’t come as a surprise.
Imagine Life (Allegedly U12 Life) will be shipped with Android 8.1 on board.
Interesting fact about it, this device will be ODM manufactured…— LlabTooFeR (@LlabTooFeR) August 13, 2018
No word on when the HTC U12 Life is expected to be announced, but for the most part what we’ve been hearing is that the phone will be a mid-ranger. We’re talking about a 6-inch 2160×1080 display, a Snapdragon 636 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. We’re also possibly looking at a dual camera setup featuring 16MP and 5MP sensors, and a 13MP front-facing camera.
As for a launch date, given everything that we’ve been hearing so far, we wouldn’t be surprised if an official announcement were around the corner.
