A lot of flagship smartphones these days are designed to look pretty. Granted a lot of companies like to tout the use of Gorilla Glass for their displays, and also water and dust resistance, but let’s face it, these phones weren’t exactly designed to be roughed up. However there is a certain level of durability that one probably expects, which unfortunately the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has failed at.

In a durability test conducted by YouTuber JerryRigEverything, he notes that for the most part the durability of the phone lives up to Samsung’s standards, but upon testing the durability of the buttons, he discovered that they appear to be relatively easy to pop off. Of course users won’t need to worry about these buttons popping off inside their bags or pockets, but the fact that they come with with relative ease is worrying.

He also mentions jokingly how as a prank, someone could potentially steal your power and volume buttons given how easy they are to remove. We’re not sure if this might be a defect that is isolated to that particular model that he was reviewing, or if this is the same for all the Note 9 models out there.

That being said, this doesn’t take away from the fact that the Note 9 is an impressive device. Reports are claiming that pre-orders of the handset have surpassed that of the Galaxy S9, but hopefully these buttons are something that Samsung will look into for future models that have yet to be put into production.
