HBO’s True Detective has been a hit show and it has developed a cult-like following. Each season comes with its own story and cast and the previous seasons have been well received. The cable giant released the first trailer of True Detective season 3 after the final episode of its miniseries Sharp Objects was aired last night. Fans of this crime anthology show are no doubt excited about the new season.
True Detective season 3 is set in the Ozarks and follows the story of a state police detective called Wayne Hays who’s played by Mahershala Ali, best known for his roles in Moonlight and House of Cards.
The story has Hays investigating what appears to be the kidnapping of a child but it’s obviously more sinister than previously believed. The vibe one gets from this trailer is similar to that of the show’s first season which was unquestionably a hit.
Nic Pizzolatto has stepped in as the writer for much of this new season. He wrote the first season as well which was directed by Cary Fukunaga. The second season left a lot to be desired which is probably why HBO took three years to come out with the third season. If the trailer is anything to go by, the new season might end up being well received.
