As a musician, Drake seems to be breaking a lot of records. Last month his latest album managed to smash records on both Apple Music and Spotify, and it was also reported that his album had been streamed over a billion times in its first week. Thanks to those accomplishments, Drake has managed to break yet another record.
In a report from Billboard, it seems that Drake has become the first artist in the world to surpass 50 billion streams. This was confirmed by his record label where the total number of streams across global platforms totalled to a very impressive 50 billion streams. While we can’t speak to what kind of deal Drake has with the various streaming services, we imagine that his revenue has got to be pretty high.
His dance track is also on track to beat Taylor Swift, where “In My Feelings” has stayed at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the fourth week in a row. If he keeps at what he’s doing, it is possible that he could end up beating Taylor Swift for the most times atop the Billboard Artist 100 list. If anything Drake’s success seems to prove that streaming does have a place in the music industry’s future.
