This new deal with Twitter will see the Overwatch League bring highlights and live streaming content onto Twitter’s platform. This will start with the Overwatch League All-Star Weekend which will kick off from the 25th to the 26th of August. Fans will be able to catch up with what’s going on through near real-time video highlights that will be shared on Twitter.
In addition to these highlights, there will also be a live weekly show that will kick off in Overwatch League’s 2019 season. Dubbed “Watchpoint”, this will be a show that covers upcoming Overwatch League matches and will be streamed via Twitter from the official Overwatch League Twitter account. The show will also provide viewers with information such as stats, match predictions, analysis, and more.
According to Daniel Cherry, vice president and chief marketing officer for Activision Blizzard Esports Leagues, “From the inception of the Overwatch League, the community on Twitter has always been one of our most passionate and engaged. That’s why we are particularly excited to announce this collaboration, beginning with the Overwatch League’s All Star-Weekend.”
Twitter’s head of gaming partnerships Rishi Chadha adds, “Twitter is where Overwatch League conversations happen and we’re thrilled to bring more content to the platform for several years. Overwatch League is one of the most Tweeted-about esports leagues on the platform, and this partnership will bolster that conversation.”
