The ROG Phone is aimed at serious mobile gamers. It ships with an overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and 8GB of RAM. The handset has a price tag to match but it appears that the company might have developed a slightly more affordable version of the handset. Chinese regulatory agency TENAA has revealed that there are two versions of the ROG Phone with 4GB and 6GB of RAM.
Just how much the company will be able to trim the price tag remains to be seen because this model retains the 2.95GHz processor. The design appears to be similar as well. The TENAA listing also mentions a single 12 megapixel camera at the back instead of the ROG Phone’s 12 + 8 megapixel dual camera system.
The current ROG Phone has a 4,000mAh battery but this particular model is listed with a 3,850mAh cell. It’s not uncommon for such listings to have inconsistencies so we may not be getting the full picture here with regards to this model of the ROG Phone.
ASUS hasn’t said if it’s planning to introduce a version of the ROG Phone with less RAM. There’s no saying how much of a discount a lower RAM variant of the device will offer compared to the €1,000 price of the existing handset.
