The Aston Martin DB5 is an iconic car that will forever be associated with James Bond. The car has been immortalized in franchise films such as Goldfinger, GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and most recently, Spectre. The car company has announced that it’s going to release the DB5 and that the car will be complete with working gadgets. It’s only going to offer a handful of units, though, so it’s going to be the ultimate collectors’ car.
Aston Martin is going to release 25 units of the DB5 in 2020 to those who have paid $3.5 million plus taxes per car. All cars will only be available in the Silver Birch color.
As you can probably imagine, they’re going to be very hard to come by even if you have that sort of money. They will likely fetch a significant premium in the secondary auction market.
The company says that these units will be “authentic reproductions of the DB5 seen on screen,” so you’ll be able to live your James Bond fantasies to an extent. It will have revolving number plates and other gadgets that will be fully functional. Don’t count on it being able to shoot missiles or fire at your enemies, though.
“To own an Aston Martin has long been an aspiration for James Bond fans, but to own a Silver Birch DB5, complete with gadgets and built to the highest standards in the very same factory as the original James Bond cars? Well, that is surely the ultimate collectors’ fantasy,” says Dr. Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin.
