Android 9.0 Pie Will Enable ‘Turn On Wi-Fi Automatically’ By Default

While WiFi is generally a preferred connection compared to mobile internet, sometimes it is understandable that you might want to turn it off. For example there might be times when the WiFi is spotty, or the free WiFi at a certain place isn’t good enough, so disabling WiFi and using mobile internet is one way to go about it.

However this can sometimes result in users forgetting to re-enable their WiFi. The good news is that with Android 9.0 Pie, you won’t accidentally burn through your data. This is because with the update, Google will be enabling “Turn on Wi-Fi automatically” by default.  For those unfamiliar, this feature basically will turn on WiFi automatically even when it is toggled off.

This will only work on “high-quality” saved networks, meaning that these are networks that you have connected to in the past that are known to be reliable, such as your own home or office network. This feature was actually introduced in Android 8.0 Oreo but it was up to manufacturers to enable it by default.

However with Android 9.0 Pie, all handsets that have the update will have it enabled by default, so users won’t need to struggle to find the option or think about it.
